Happy New Year from Assemblymember Bauer-Kahan

Dear Neighbors,

As we welcome 2026, I want to take a moment to reflect on the year behind us and, more importantly, to wish you and your loved ones a wonderful new year filled with health, happiness, and hope.

In 2025, I was proud to see six of my bills signed into law, including landmark protections for reproductive health data privacy, mental health warning labels on social media, and critical reforms to the California FAIR Plan. As we move into 2026, I remain committed to addressing California's homeowners' insurance crisis and fighting for relief from skyrocketing utility bills, among other issues around affordability, as well as protecting our children from the many dangers we know are online, including regulating AI and safeguarding our privacy.

Here at home, my team has been working hard resolving constituent cases, helping navigate state agencies like the EDD, FTB, and DMV. We strongly believe that being accessible to you and providing that responsive service is what matters most. In 2025, we recovered well over a million dollars for my constituents alone. Please know my office is here to help, so reach out any time.

Last month brought exciting news on a project I've been working on: the completion of the Wagner Ranch Nature Area acquisition by John Muir Land Trust. This 16-acre treasure will soon reopen as an outdoor classroom for thousands of local schoolchildren, marking a gift that will benefit our community for generations to come. I secured a $1.5 million state grant to aid in the restoration and reopening of this important educational resource for our community.

Throughout 2025, we hosted several local events, including a Menopause Town Hall, a youth mental health education forum, a panel discussion on the pervasiveness of microplastics in our daily lives, and an information session on protecting yourself from fraud and online scams, to name a few. I also co-hosted a Joint Informational Hearing at Stanford University examining how AI is reshaping copyright law and California's creative economy, ensuring we stay ahead of these rapidly evolving challenges. I'm looking forward to many more events like these in 2026 and hope to see you at one!

From my family to yours, I wish you a joyful and prosperous 2026. Thank you for the privilege of representing you. I am so grateful for this community and for your continued trust.

My office is here for you anytime. Please don't hesitate to reach out if we can help.

With warmth and gratitude,
