
The Office of Assemblymember Bauer-Kahan (Assembly District 16) is seeking interns for the Summer of 2026.
Thank you for your interest in an internship with the California State Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan in the District Office located in San Ramon, CA. The emphasis of the internship will be on community outreach, event planning and the legislative process. The window to submit a Summer internship application will open on January 1, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. and will close on January 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.
We are looking for collaborative, inclusive individuals who are eager to learn and apply the skills necessary to work in a legislator’s district office including – working with constituents and community stakeholder groups, researching and writing legislative memos, conducting community outreach efforts, managing casework, working with databases, organizing civic events, and staffing the district office.
Internships are open to college students interested in learning about working in a state legislator’s district office. Internships with the Assembly District Office are for seven (7) weeks and are fully in-person. The Summer internship program will begin on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 and conclude on Friday July 31, 2026. Interns will be paid an hourly rate of $20.00 per hour, and will be offered additional unpaid volunteer opportunities outside of the paid intern hours.

Summer interns commit to spending 12 hours in the District Office per week. Internship hours are Tuesday through Friday for three (3) hours each day. You will be in a cohort either in the morning (10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) or afternoon (12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.) with additional unpaid volunteer opportunities outside of the paid intern hours. Interns must be over 18 and enrolled in a college or university. If you are not able to meet all of these requirements, we encourage you to apply in a future cycle. We run our internship program 3 times each year.
